Making sinless silk shine
Brand Identity · Print Collateral
Silkworm lives matter
The softness of silk depends on which side of the loom you’re on. What’s soft, luxurious, and sexy to us is laborious to weavers and hazardous to silkworms.
London-based label Kausheya set out to change this by championing ahimsa silk, produced without harming the silkworm pupae, and supporting traditional weaving practices passed down through generations.
A little craft for a lot of craft
Before putting pen to paper, we researched silk, the traditions, the craft, the communities – every thread was followed. We could tell you the brand celebrates craftsmanship, but we’d rather show you what that entails.
The identity drew on the delicate and handmade nature of Kausheya’s products. We developed a visual language that brought traditional craftsmanship and a contemporary sensibility together, carrying it through the brand identity, print, and promotional collateral.
The idea was to give Kausheya something that felt as carefully considered as the textiles themselves. Distinctive enough to have its own personality, but never so elaborate that it competed with the artisans’ work.
The silk, the process, and the products were already beautiful. We ensured the identity accented it.
One brand. Two countries. No hiccups.
There’s a nice symmetry to this one. A London-based brand with its roots in Indian craftsmanship, and an Indian design team creating its identity from a few thousand miles away.
We managed the entire project remotely, working directly with Kausheya from the initial conversations through to the finished collateral. Different countries, different time zones, but no unnecessary layers between the people making decisions and the people doing the work.
In our experience, distance never becomes the interesting part. Only the work does.
Bigger ideas. Finer details.
TWO is where the wide view and fine line converge. Things that are often made to compete actually become stronger together.
That’s our bedrock.
